Gondola

This car is an accurate model of a 53-1/2ft. gondola produced by the Thrall Car Manufacturing Company.  This gondola is the 14 rib version with a mixture of open and close bottomed ribs.  The kit is comprised of laser cut steel parts that incorporate slot and tabs to make assembly very simple and straightforward.  This kit comes with our stamped steel dreadnaught ends and includes all the grab irons, ladder assemblies, brakewheel housing, brakewheel platform and stirrup steps.  Once assembled this car is a solid construction with exceptional strength.  This car kit requires welding to complete and is about in the middle of our car kits in terms of complexity.  As with all of our kits, we provide step by step pictorial instructions.  This model car was sold to almost all major railroads and can still be commonly seen in use today hauling a variety of items.  In our area in Ohio we commonly see this car carrying scrap metal or finished steel coils.
